Southwestern Company Truth Getting the truth out

Extremely Irritated Customer

In the summer of 2005 I purchased books from Nikki Hartford a representative of The Southwestern Company. I paid a partial amount for the books and then Mrs. Hartford was to deliver the books at which point she was to receive the remainder of the amount.  Ms Hartford skipped out on us; she would not return multiple voice messages left to her phone.  My next step was to contact the company; a response from Joyce Forbes (who is no longer with the company nor are her records - how convenient!!) asked me to mail the receipt to her for proof.  So I mailed the receipt and along with a check for the remaining amount in October 2005.  No response backs - no action taken.

In January of 2006 I contacted the company again in regards to my order.  The staff continues to ask me for proof of the order/payment.  What they all fail to understand is that I no longer have a receipt as I mailed it to Ms. Forbes through USPS.  DUH!  I was informed by the staff of The Southwestern Company that neither Ms. Forbes nor Ms. Hartford has records in regards to this matter. Again very convenient!  I found this quite odd and leaning toward a scam.  Your website confirms my suspicions.

I contacted Trey Campbell, APR - Communications Manager of the company in March of 2007.  He will only refund my money after I prove that I purchased the items from their company.  How generous of him considering they have no proof and have my only receipt.  Ms. Forbes has my receipt and left the company taking it with her.

Thank you for the work you have put into this site warning both college students and consumers.
